Nominations Open for the 2015 Northern Science Award

The Canadian Polar Commission would like to announce that nominations are now open for the 2015 Northern Science Award.

The Northern Science Award is presented annually to an individual or a group who have made a significant contribution to meritorious knowledge and understanding of the Canadian North. In the spirit of the last International Polar Year (2007-2008) the Northern Science Award recognizes the transformation of knowledge into action.

Call for Applications: Northern Scientific Training Program

Applications are invited under the Northern Scientific Training Program for  2015-2016.  All applications must be submitted by December 1, 2014.

Franklin ship found

After more than 160 years of searching to understand the fate of English explorer Sir John Franklin’s fabled arctic voyage, Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced a Canadian team has located one of Franklin’s historic ships and solved one of the world’s greatest archaeological mysteries.
